Twelve samples out of 2,800 peach stones excavated from the Makimuku archeological site in Nara prefecture were C14-dated precisely. As a result, it was revealed for the first time that someday between AD135 and AD230 the peaches grew up and were eaten, and these stones were discarded; that is, the Makimuku site was established at this time. The Makimuku site has been considered to be one of the major candidates of Yamataikoku in the controversy concerning the location of Yamataikoku, and the result in this study indicates that the Makimuku site is more likely to be Yamataikoku.
