研究課題名：EISCATレーダー、光学観測機器を用いた極域超高層大気の研究

研究計画概要：北極域超高層大気に関する研究を、EISCATレーダー、MFレーダー、流星レーダー、FPI、全天イメージャなどのデータにより実施する。具体的には、（１）EISCATレーダー、MFレーダー、流星レーダーおよびFPI観測データによる下部熱圏大気ダイナミクス、（２）EISCATレーダー、MFレーダー、流星レーダーによる下部熱圏・中間圏のプラネタリー波および大気潮汐波の研究、（３）EISCATレーダーを用いた極域熱圏におけるジュール加熱の研究、（４）将来計画に関する議論。トロムソに設置された機器を用いた今後の研究計画および、EISCAT 3Dに関連した議論を行う。

アブストラクト：I will give an overview of some myhts and superstition concerning the northern lights. Then I will give some examples from the historic development of auroral research and the status of our knowledge today. .

I will also demonstrate why Northern Norway and Svalbard are so well situated for auroral research and then give an introduction to the available infrastructure for this research and for the plans for future development in the Scandinavian region.
