The ISEE, Nagoya University, held PSTEP Summer School Rikubetsu 2017 at Rikubetsu, Hokkaido on July 30 - August 4, 2017 in collaboration with the Project for Solar-Terrestrial Environment Prediction (PSTEP), and Rikubetsu town. PSTEP, which is led by Prof. Kusano, the director of ISEE, is a nation-wide research collaboration supported by a Grant-in-Aid for Scientific Research on Innovative Areas from MEXT/Japan. The school gathered about 100 participants from all over Japan, and many ISEE members participated this school as LOCs, lecturers, and students.

There were 19 lectures about the solar-terrestrial environmental system, and space weather forecast system. There were also poster sessions and group discussion sessions to promote exchange between participants. The participants visited some national parks as an excursion. They also visited Rikubetsu observatory of ISEE to see the SuperDARN Hokkaido-Rikubetsu HF radar. These lectures and activities helped the participants to understand the solar-terrestrial environment and space weather forecasting.

Rikubetsu town has fully supported this summer school. The LOCs have been devoted to organizing this event for about 1 year. Their efforts led this summer school to great success. The summary of this summer school is given in the PSTEP Web page (http://www.pstep.jp/information/20170704ss.html ).
