Profile

Name: Nozomu Nishitani
Position: Associate Professor
Self-Introduction: I am at current position since 2005. In order to keep my physical strength I ride a bicycle between home and the office every weekday.

Research topics

Research fields: magnetosphere-ionosphere-upper atmosphere physics, especially the study of their dynamics using the SuperDARN radars

Contents: The ionosphere is a region at about 70 to 1000 km altitudes filled with ions and electrons. My main scientific interest is the dynamics of the ionosphere affected by various regions such as the sun, solar wind, magnetosphere, and neutral atmosphere. In order to study the dynamic characteristics of the ionosphere, I use mainly the Super Dual Auroral Radar Network (SuperDARN) data. I am the Principal Investigator of the SuperDARN Hokkaido Pair of (HOP) radars, to investigate ionospheric dynamics in collaboration with other instruments.
