Nagoya University is a member institution of the international consortium of the Cherenkov Telescope Array (CTA) project. CTA is the next-generation gamma-ray observatory, which will start its full-array observations in 2020s. Its various telescope designs are currently under construction and being tested, and the first Large-Sized Telescope (LST), one of the telescope designs, is also under construction on the island of La Palma, the Canary Islands, Spain. The first light of the first LST is scheduled to be in 2018. ISEE contributes to the development of the focal-plane camera and the optical system of LSTs.

ISEE also contributes to the development of one of CTA Small-Sized Telescope designs. Please also read an article on its first light achieved in 2015.
