Preparation for the RHIC forward experiment to test the interaction between high-energy cosmic rays and atmosphere is on going. The LHCf detector used in the LHC collider at CERN is used in the RHICf experiment at the RHIC collider in the USA.
Data taking is scheduled in 2017. Experimental data from wide range of collision energy using the two colliders helps to understand the nature of cosmic rays.
The photo shows a part of the gigantic collider machine, and the compact RHICf detector installed there is found at the center.
